You may be thinking, “Why should we buy handcrafted soap? The soap in the store is much cheaper!” Well, there are several reasons we feel everyone should use our all-natural, handcrafted soap.
At Mallory Made Essentials, we encourage everyone to live a natural life. One day, while shopping for soap, I was looking for something new to try because my skin was so dry. I always check food labels for ingredients, so I began reading bath and body product labels too. As I read the labels, I began to notice that everything was labeled "beauty bars, body bars, or moisturizing bars". NOTHING was labeled “soap”. This immediately sparked my attention. (I encourage you all to take a look at what you've been putting on and in your skin, too!
I headed home to do some research. As it turns out, the faux "soaps" I had been using weren't labeled as soap because they are not soap. These commercial products are actually detergents that are filled with harsh chemicals. While trying to live a healthy, natural lifestyle, we were bathing with the very chemicals that we were trying to avoid.
Commercially-made bars are filled with potentially dangerous chemical additives and/or synthetic detergents. These additives and detergents dry out the skin, create rashes and other irritations, and may be harmful to health. When natural ingredients are used in a commercial bar, the quantities are too small to be truly beneficial. Their advertising may suggest a more natural product, but the ingredient label will show that the bar is still primarily composed of synthetic ingredients.
The ingredients on a popular commercial beauty bar reads:
Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate, Stearic Acid, Sodium Tallowate Or Sodium Palmitate, Lauric Acid, Sodium Isethionate, Water, Sodium Stearate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Cocoate Or Sodium Palm Kernelate, Fragrance, Sodium Chloride, Tetrasodium Edta, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891).
Does anyone know what this stuff is? Another question is...do can you even pronounce it? Do you know what it looks like? What else is it used for??? Don't feel bad; I couldn't answer those questions either--until I did my research!
On the contrary, the ingredients on Mallory Made Essentials' soaps are very simple to read. Some of our ingredients include:
Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Shea Butter, Water, Sodium Hydroxide*, Hemp Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Avocado Oil, Castor Oil, Essential Oils, and Mica to name a few. (*Used to turn oils into real soap. Not present in final soap product.)
Since commercially-made bars cannot legally use the term “soap” because they are made with synthetic detergents. Instead, they may be called "beauty bars," "cleaning bars," "cream bars," or something similar. When you buy Mallory Made Essentials Sensational Soaps, you're buying actual soap that's filled with simple, natural ingredients--not harsh chemicals or detergents.
We have thoroughly researched what makes a good bar of soap, and we continue perfecting our soaps and techniques. We take pride in the recipes we have developed for our soaps. We only use all-natural, vegan, and organic ingredients like unrefined Organic African Shea butter, organic coconut oils, and other skin-loving butters. We then scent our soaps with either therapeutic-grade essential oils, or high quality phthalate-free fragrance oils formulated for soaps from the most respected suppliers in the industry.
Mallory Made Essentials' handcrafted soap naturally contains glycerin. Glycerin is a humectant that attracts moisture and softens your skin. Glycerin is not added to handcrafted soap, rather, it is naturally created in the process of mixing water, oils, and butters. In handcrafted soap, the glycerin is left in place. However, in commercially-made bars, the glycerin is thought to be valuable, and so it is extracted for use in other more profitable, moisturizing products. The absence of glycerin is another reason that commercial bars dry out the skin.
While formulating our Body Glow Butters, we wanted a whipped body butter that was full of skin-loving oils, butters, and extracts that would leave our skin feeling soft. After receiving rave reviews from a group of testers, our skin-loving whipped Body Glow Butter is now in production. It's a true luxury!
We take pride in our products. We use them every day, and we absolutely love them! We think you will, too! Cheers to good health!
